This listing is for the large ambrotype number 09, format 25x30cm or 10×12″. I had many technical issues while working on it, but I love these traces of hand-work. Nevertheless the price is reduced in comparison to the other two.
This is an amborotype, process a wet plate collodion on glass, backed with black. The characteristics of ambrotype is that each is a unique piece, each and every one is different, although I didn’t move the camera or lights, this photographic process from 1851 is entirely hand-work and consequently each plate is a bit different. In the case of this project I’ve made six small 5×7″ ambrotypes and three large 25×30 cm or 10×12″ ambrotypes. I also made few collodion negatives and carbon prints. This listing is for the ambrotype number 09, format 25x30cm or 10×12″.
I’ve created this art-work as a response to the catastrophic floods that hit Slovenia at the beginning of August 2023. The comment on the back of the plate is: ”
Just like a drop of water doesn’t feel responsible for floods, so none of us feel responsible for global warming!”. I’ve decided I will financially help to Jošt Franko (https://jostfranko.com/), a young excellent photographer who is also a great human being. He lost his cameras, books, his PhD research material and also film negatives. I’ve made this set of prints and plates and they are for sale. The first 500 EUR from this sale will go to him. If you would want to support him directly, here is his paypal address:
