A WET PLATE COLLODION EXPEDITION, 1st – 7th of August 2022

WHAT? A Wet Plate Collodion Expedition will be a whole week event in the wilderness of Slovenia’s forests, under the art direction of Borut Peterlin and guests Nejc Urankar, Shane Balkowitsch, Barbara Cataneo .

PHOTOGRAPHY? Wet plate collodion, dry plate collodion, albumen printing, salt printing, carbon printing, mordançage, silver-gelatine process, cyanotype, etc.

ACTIVITIES: Hiking tours, exhibitions, talks, projections and performances beside a bonfire with acoustic music.

WHO? For photographers and lovers of photography and their families!

WHEN? 1st – 7th of August 2022

WHERE? In the middle of Kočevski rog, Slovenia, in one of the deepest forest of Europe

ACCOMMODATION? Camping places and rooms will be available. Nearest B&B are 30 minutes drive in the valley.

FOOD & DRINKS? Food & drinks will be organised.

SUMMERY OF THE PROGRAM?
Seven day event is devoted to photography and environmentalism. Its purpose is to invite photographers and other photography lovers to spend a week in the middle of deep forest, far from civilisation, where not even mobile phone networks can reach you. During this weekend we will have hiking tours, exhibition in a cave, demonstration of various photographic processes, talks projections, survival techniques, herb picking for tea and creams, storytelling, observing stars and beside a bone fire and acoustic music enjoy the peacefulness of the eternal forest.

The price for seven days is 799 EUR and it includes a bed in joined bedroom spaces, food, raft, canoes, kayaks, transportation around the area, all the information and all the support we can offer.
The price for four days from Thursday to Sunday, the price is 499 EUR and it includes a bed in joined bedroom spaces, food, all the information and all the support we can offer.

09:00 Expedition to the Roška žaga Saw Mill ruins

10:00 Hiking on the top of the Rog mountain. It’s an easy trail, 50 min walking, suitable for families with kids and adults. On the top is panoramic tower higher then tree tops.

13:00 Lunch at Roška žaga or on the top of the mountain. (Bonfire, Sausages, bread, heated up goulash, polenta)

14:00 – 17h working, walking, enjoying, exploring, breathing…

17-19h some will hike back to the headquarters

18h returning to the headquarters by cars

This day will be very open program. We will have several activities going at the same time. All what was going on the whole week, plus:

11h transportation to Novo mesto
12h guided tour to the show A New Earth by Borut Peterlin in Novo mesto
15h Lunch will be organised in the city

Wrapping up the week

Picking up herbs, making tea, workshop for kids, playing football, scout survival activities, guitar, drum, bonfire

Pricing:

For seven days:
The price for seven days is 799 EUR and it includes a bed in joined bedroom spaces, food, raft, canoes, kayaks, transportation around the area, all the information and all the support we can offer.
This is not a workshop though. It will have many elements of the workshop, but the workshop means four people and a mentor working together 10 hours every day for six days, this event is more an excuse to spend a great time in a peaceful environment, while receiving a lot of support about the wet and dry plate collodion process. While you get familiar also with dry plate silver-gelatine process.

In this price does not include the gear and the chemistry. If you would like us to provide you with the gear and chemistry we will do it gladly, but we will need to know exactly your wishes. Most importantly is to know if you would like just to try out these process or would you like to have the full support with us providing the camera, chemistry and the workspace, so you could do many plates every day.
